Professional Qualifications and Activities
I am a Chartered Statistician (CStat) and fellow of the Royal Statistical
Society. I take part in the RSS Continuing Professional Development scheme
to ensure my skills are kept up to date.
I undertake statistical reviews of papers regularly for journals including
Atherosclerosis, Annals of Human Genetics and BMJ open.
Academic Qualifications
MSc Biometry, University of Reading.
BSc Mathematics with Statistics, Royal Holloway College, University of
London.
Experience
I have nearly 30 years experience working as a medical statistician within a
research environment, most recently for 14 years as Senior Research Fellow
within the Centre for Cardiovascular Genetics at UCL. My other posts have
been Research Lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire, and Medical
Statistician at the MRC Epidemiology and Medical Care Unit at Barts.
My roles involved study design, data processing and analysis of large scale
research studies, writing research papers, provision of advice to researchers
and helping students with statistical aspects of their projects. My interests
include the use of genetic risk scores in the prediction of cardiovascular
disease and diabetes.
I can help with statistical methods such as ANOVA, regression, survival
analysis, logistic regression, meta-analysis, multi-level models and the use
of discrimination, calibration and reclassification metrics.
Skills
I am experienced with many statistical packages including Stata, SPSS, R,
PLINK, MLwin and THESIAS.
